Fabric connection

Field reference: scamander-providers-fabric. There are two separate connection types, since they authenticate against different Fabric/Azure resources: fabric for running items (notebooks, pipelines), and fabric_capacity for pause/resume/scale of a capacity resource.

Both authenticate as a service principal that needs to be created and allow-listed for Fabric API access first. See Creating a Power BI / Fabric service principal if you don’t already have one set up. The steps below assume you do, and just cover creating the Airflow connection itself.

Steps

  1. In the Airflow UI, open Admin → Connections, then click + to add a new connection.

  1. Set Connection Id (e.g. fabric_default or fabric_capacity_default) and Connection Type to fabric or fabric_capacity.

  1. Fill in Login (client ID) and Password (client secret) from the target app registration’s rotated credentials, plus Extra with the tenantId field (and, for the fabric type only, optionally refreshToken/scopes), then click Save.
